ENVY - Recitation 2XLP 180Gr. clear/light grey/black swirl !

First 500 copies on clear/light grey/black swirl vinyl.
VINYL FORMAT. There is a precise point early on in Recitation where it dawns on us that there truly is no other band quite like Envy. Ninety seconds into album opener "Guidance," amid a subtle symphony of synth washes, backwards guitar harmonics and chiming bells, a solitary female voice recites what sounds like a poetry in a language that few Envy fans outside of Japan can understand. And yet, its beauty is undeniable, and its emotional resonance is transcendent, sounding like a Japanese love letter to Brian Eno. This is why labels like "post-hardcore" tend to feel clumsy and slippery when slung at Envy; such tags assume a starting point that's miles away from where Envy began and worlds away from where they are now. It's no surprise that Envy have increasingly found inspiration in instrumental rock and experimental ambient music - genres that historically circumvent cultural trappings. With each album since their inception in the early '90s, the group has chipped away at the linguistic and cultural barriers inherent in international rock music. Their breakthrough came with 2003's A Dead Sinking Story, the groundbreaking third album that replaced familiar hardcore breakdowns with the sound of actual emotional breakdowns, and - along with Isis and Explosions in the Sky - helped blur the lines between more than a few genres. That began a transition that leads straight to Recitation, by far the most dynamic, technically diverse and emotionally complex album of Envy's two-decade career. Where recent co-releases with fellow underground rock icons Thursday and Jesu hinted at a band in transition, Recitation is a fully realized vision from a band at their most inspired.

OCEANSIZE - Self Preserved While The Bodies Float Up 1xLP 180Gr Marble

Just 300 of the white and solely 200 of the marbled vinyl are available worldwide. Self Preserved While the Bodies Float Up is Oceansize’s masterpiece. It embodies everything the band has been trying to achieve in over a decade of recording, and only now with the combination of maturity, experience and the acceptance that you just can’t please everybody, has the band fully realised its potential. Self Preserved is a consistent and engaging listen, and while the band’s previous efforts were certainly rewarding, the attention to detail shown here makes Self Preserved much more so. Now that Oceansize are doing it for themselves – and not to satiate a shallow demographic that they feel they should appeal to – the results are more pleasing than ever.

ENVY - A Dead Sinking Story 2xLP Black 180Gr.

Reissue by Envy from Tokyo, Japan. This album was previously released in 2003. A Dead Sinking Story is an epic fusion of anger, sadness and strength; a sonic journey through incredible songwriting and newly incorporated electronic soundscapes which give the listener only an inch or two of breathing room. Both breathtaking and unrelenting, A Dead Sinking Story clocks in at an epic 62 minutes; this is truly hardcore reserved for the hardcore. The players: Tetsuya Fukagawa, Nobukata Kawai, Manabu Nakagawa, Dairoku Seki and Masahiro Tobita. Envy's storied transformation goes from pioneering spastic hardcore to masters of exquisite, triumphant doom.

CAVE iN - Antenna 2xLP Black 180Gr.

Antenna sees Cave In walking a precarious artistic tightrope - teetering and stumbling on occasion, but thankfully never quite falling off. For the listener, it’s a spectacular balancing act to witness.
The fourth album from Cave In finds the Massachusetts-based hardcore innovators streaking away from their former orbit at fantastic speed. A truly remarkable progression, and a great album to boot--Antenna is the work of a band that's constantly moving forward.

Mr.BUNGLE - CALIFORNIA 1xLP Black 180Gr. EXTREMELY RARE !!!

With CALIFORNIA, Mr. Bungle has largely ditched its infamous jazz/thrash/circus sound (especially evident on the group's first album) for an even more varied cinematic aesthetic that both embraces and gleefully subverts traditional pop structures. Simply put, this is probably as accessible as Bungle is bound to get, and the results are amazing in both their inventiveness and scope. (As stated in the album's tongue-in-cheek press release, CALIFORNIA shows "evidence of a rock band pretending to have roots in rock music.")

Opening with the lounge-laced "Sweet Charity," the album soon shifts to the sci-fi rockabilly/swing stylings of "None of Them Knew They Were Robots" and then to the crooning melodic pop of "Retrovertigo." On other dynamic compositions such as "The Air-Conditioned Nightmare" and "Goodbye Sober Day," Bungle's quick-change genre-hopping is surprisingly seamless, with vocal gymnast Mike Patton acting as the conductor, narrator, and tour guide. "Pink Cigarette" is pure pulp-mystery music, while "The Holy Filament" wouldn't sound out of place on the BRAZIL soundtrack. Although these songs are ridiculously layered with hundreds of instrument and vocal tracks, CALIFORNIA doesn't sound overly complex, revealing only the finest of Mr. Bungle's warped yet playful traits.

Recorded at Coast Recorders, Division Hi-Fi, Forking Paths Studio and Different Fur, San Francisco, California.
Mr. Bungle: Mike Patton, Trey Spruance, Bar McKinnon, Trevor Dunn, Danny Heifetz.
